President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marked his 74th birthday on March 29, 2026, thanking Nigerians for their support and prayers.

Birthday message from Presidential Villa

In a statement released from the Presidential Villa, Tinubu praised citizens for their patriotism and steady backing of his administration. He said the goodwill has helped his government push through difficult reforms.

“Today, as I clock another year on the journey of life, I’m filled with joy and gratitude for the opportunity to serve this great nation,” he wrote. He also thanked his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their kind words.

Low-key celebration amid reforms

However, Tinubu kept his birthday low key, in line with the current national mood. He said the country still faces tough conditions linked to ongoing reforms and global pressures.

Furthermore, he pointed to the Middle East crisis as a factor affecting Nigeria’s economic path. He added that despite setbacks, the country now sees early signs of progress.

“I am reminded of the challenges we’ve faced since we initiated our reforms,” he said. “We can see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.”

Call for unity and shared progress

Meanwhile, the president stressed that progress did not come from government alone. He said Nigerians played a direct role in any gains recorded so far.

“The credit does not belong solely to me or my team,” Tinubu said. “We achieved the gains together.”

Consequently, he urged citizens to stay united as his administration nears its third year. He expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome current challenges with continued public support.

He ended on a personal note. “Thank you all, and happy 74th birthday to me,” he said.
