Tinubu inaugurates Board of NNPCL, signals new era

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday administered the oath of office to the newly appointed board and management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja.

This is coming seven weeks after their appointments were announced on April 2, 2025.

Ahmadu Kida was sworn in as the Non-Executive Chairman of the board, while Bashir Ojulari assumed the role of Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL.

After the ceremony, the President headed to the All Progressives Congress National Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall.

The 11-member board includes Adedapo Segun and Bello Rabiu, representing the North West; Yusuf Usman, representing the North East; and Babs Omotowa, a former Managing Director of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas, representing the North Central.

Also on the board are Austin Avuru, Non-Executive Director for the South-South; David Ige, representing the South-West; and Henry Obih, representing the South-East.

Lydia Jafiya, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, will serve on the board as the ministry’s representative, while Aminu Ahmed will represent the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources.

The event was attended by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Mohammed Idris and the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri.
