Key players in government, advocacy, academia, and industry will converge in Lagos on Friday, October 17, for the Nigeria Environment Outlook 2025, a high-level platform designed to advance national dialogue on sustainability, environmental governance, and green growth.

The event, organised by Environment Africa Magazine in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Environment and powered by NatureHedge, is themed “Shaping a Greener Present for a Sustainable and Resilient Future.”

According to the organisers, the forum will explore strategies for strengthening public–private partnerships, promoting environmental compliance, and mainstreaming sustainability across Nigeria’s key economic sectors.

A major highlight of the programme will be the unveiling of the second edition of Nigeria’s Top 100 Environmental and Sustainability Professionals, celebrating individuals driving innovation, research, and policy transformation in the country’s environmental sector.

The inaugural edition, released in 2024, honoured pioneers of environmental leadership and advocacy, while this year’s edition recognises a new generation of professionals advancing climate resilience, circular economy integration, and sustainable enterprise in Nigeria.

The Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, is expected to attend as Special Guest of Honour.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Eugene Itua, Executive Director of the African Green Economy and Sustainability Institute (AGESI).

The event will feature two panel discussions and a thematic breakout session addressing issues such as the green economy, sustainable infrastructure, and institutional accountability across 13 multi-engagement themes.

Editor-in-Chief of Environment Africa Magazine, Mr. Sam Nwosu, said the 2025 edition serves as a rallying point for collaboration among all stakeholders.

“This year’s Outlook is not just a review — it’s a rallying point for cooperation. Nigeria’s environmental future depends on shared commitment between government, industry, and civil society to translate ideas into measurable, lasting impact,” he said.

The conference enjoys support from several public and private organisations, including Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company (SEEPCO), Heirs Energies, and the Asteven Group.

Institutional and civil society partners include the Civil Society Strategy Group on SDGs (CSOSG–SDGs), Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Associations Alliance (REEEA–A), and the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).

The event is scheduled to hold from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the VCP Hotel, Ajose Adeogun, Victoria Island, Lagos.
