JAMB has released 279 previously withheld UTME results after investigators cleared some candidates, while the board continues to probe suspected examination malpractice cases across several centres.
JAMB Clears Some Candidates, Keeps Probe Active
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it reached the decision after carrying out a detailed review of cases flagged during and after the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
However, the board explained that investigators found no prima facie evidence against some affected candidates. As a result, JAMB released their results.
Furthermore, the board confirmed that it cancelled some results after it established evidence of examination malpractice.
“The release follows ongoing investigations into cases of suspected examination malpractice. While some results have been outrightly cancelled where evidence of malpractice was established, others have been released where the Board found no prima facie case against the affected candidates,” the statement said.
Some Results Still Under Review
Meanwhile, JAMB said candidates linked to centres under scrutiny would still have their results withheld pending the end of investigations.
In a statement signed by its Public Communication Adviser, Dr Fabian Benjamin, the board said its live monitoring team and adverse reports from some centres triggered further investigations.
Consequently, JAMB warned that it would cancel the results of any candidate found guilty after the review process ends.
Furthermore, the board advised candidates whose results remain pending to check their status by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration.
In response, JAMB said it remains focused on protecting the integrity of the UTME and strengthening efforts to tackle examination fraud across Nigeria.
